Workshop & DIY Guidelines

Superchips Flashcal and Flashcal+ Jeep calibration Installation & Fitment Protocol

Direct-fit automotive parts are engineered to integrate with factory mounting points, electrical connectors, and body clearances without permanent modification. Always double-check trim and powertrain compatibility before installation.

Install Difficulty

Shop & Bench Specs

Difficulty: Moderate (2/5)

Estimated Install Time: 1.0 – 2.5 hours

Required Tools

Installation Equipment

  • Standard and metric hand tool set
  • Calibrated torque wrench
  • Safety glasses and protective gloves
  • Vehicle shop manual or manufacturer instruction sheet
Post-Install Safety

Post-Install Protocol

  • Confirm all fasteners are tightened to specified torque values.
  • Perform a functional inspection and test drive before returning vehicle to full service.
  • Re-inspect all fasteners after 100 miles of operation.

Wear Triggers & Maintenance Checks

  • Fastener backing out under sustained vibration if thread locker was omitted.
  • Surface finish oxidation when exposed to road de-icing chemicals.
  • Bushing degradation from environmental ozone exposure.

Chassis Fitment Context

Solid front axle geometry dictates that coil spring height translates 1:1 to lift height (unlike IFS motion ratios). However, raising the front un-rotates the axle, reducing positive caster and causing flighty highway steering. Geometry correction brackets or adjustable front lower control arms are critical on lifts 2.0" and higher.

The JL Wrangler debuted in 2018 and the JT Gladiator in 2020, replacing the JK platform with aluminum doors/hood and electro-hydraulic steering. In 2024, Jeep introduced standard side-curtain airbags, redesigned 7-slot grilles, standard 12.3-inch Uconnect screens, and full-float Dana 44 rear axles on Rubicon trims.

Pre-Installation Unboxing Verification Checklist

Step 01: Confirm Physical SKU & Labeling

Inspect outer box label against your order invoice and the manufacturer part number shown here before opening hardware bags.

Step 02: Dry-Fit & Hardware Inventory

Unpack fasteners, brackets, and instructions. Perform a preliminary dry-fit check against the vehicle before removing factory components.

Step 03: Review Torque & Thread Requirements

Identify critical torque values and whether thread locker (Blue Loctite) or anti-seize compound is required by the manufacturer.

Step 04: Plan Post-Install Calibration

For suspension, steering, or lighting parts, schedule a professional alignment and verify forward-facing ADAS sensor calibration.
